A course designed to instruct personnel in the fundamentals skills required to access open structures (Advanced Tower Climbing Skills) and the recovery of a fallen climber from these situations (High Access Rescue).
This course conforms to most of the requirements of the "Competent Rescuer" in the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) Tower Climber Fall Protection Training Standards.

Pre-course requirements
None. A head for heights will be required for successful completion.
Certification
Valid for three years on successful completion.

DAY ONE
Presentation
- Introduction to height safety
- Legislation and selection of control measures
- Work Categories
- Hazards at height
- Selection of personal fall protection equipment (PFPE)
- Harness fitting
- User inspection, care and maintenance
Practical
- Harness fitting, climbing a vertical ladder.
- Use of lanyard and pole strap
DAY TWO
Presentation and Practical (on-site)
- Open structure climbing with twin lanyards.
- Use of temporary fall arrest lines on open structure.
Presentation
- Rescue and the need for rapid evacuation systems
- High Access Rescue Kits
Practical
- Descending, including tandem descents
- Casualty transferral onto the rescue system
DAY THREE
Practical
- Casualty pulley systems and cableways
- Skills refresher
- Assessment scenarios
